I’m feeling well fed up tonight. Following a CT scan of Mum’s pancreas yesterday her doctor found some necrotic and infected tissue in her pancreas and surrounding areas. They have now decided that this needs to be removed and are trying to ascertain whether this is best done with traditional or laparoscopic surgery.
They are also trying to transfer her up to the specialist unit here in Bristol, but between flu admissions and staff shortages due to the snow and ice, this is as yet undecided. It would be easier for me if she could stay up here in Bristol so I can visit her and still get on with some work rather than being stuck in snowbound rural Dorset twiddling my thumbs. But it depends on what’s best for her of course.
So at the moment, I’m just having to take things hour by hour. I don’t know when the weather will make driving conditions easier or when her operation will go ahead. I don’t even know where I’ll be spending Christmas day yet. So am feeling very fed up with it all. But probably not as fed up as my mum whose number of tubes and wires seems to multiply daily.
