Sit in Peace – Meditation Flash Mob on Saturday 28th July 2012

The sun was out and the sky was a perfect blue and around 120 people gathered on College Green in central Bristol for the second flash mob meditation event of the year. Without verbal command, just the ringing of a singing bowl, a hush descended as people from all different practices and beliefs sat in quiet meditation for half an hour.

It was amazing just how peaceful that section of the city became, not just the meditators but everyone else on College Green hushed up too. No sirens screamed, phones rang or kids wailed, just a blissful, perfect moment out of time. Imagine the peace that would prevail if everyone took up meditation.

The singing bowl rang again to signal the end of quiet time and people then shared hugs and food. What a glorious gift to sit in warm sunshine meditating with such beautiful people.

I wanted to be there (but could not be) so thanks for giving me a sense of what I missed – sounds marvellous. MORE meditation in public spaces! Grand idea.

  2. Jas Baku says:

Such a good vibe – peace and harmony radiating out through Bristol into the cosmos.
